Here are some key points that you must know about creating your own customized Assessment Instrument in the context of creating your own Case-Study Driven Curriculum Continuity Program (CCP). What you are really doing is creating a powerful content-rich idea virus that is the best way of leveraging the power of Milgram’s Law (The market place believes the words of an expert–and almost blindly so!) and Zipf’s Law (The market place rewards those who are perceived to be the leaders in an industry.).

1. The best way to position a front-end CCP is thru the power of an assessment instrument. Take the following one to see how this works from http://BusinessMentoringScoreCard.com.
2. The assessment instrument should be created to reflect the key differentiating factors that make you different from all your competitors. It is crucial that it–your assessment instrument–also taps into the ‘negative perception’ that your target market has of your competitors. This is really important if you want to create high end information programs and services. You must develop a system to ‘write to earn’.
3. Your assessment instrument should be created so that clients can quickly self-reflect and answer the rubric (rating scale) that is used to allow your differentiation to be fully explained. In fact, your rating scale should get your target market to ’see’ more fully what makes you different in the market place.
4. Your rating scale should have four options. The most valid answers will come when there are no opportunities for fence-sitting such as a rubric of 1 to 3. In this scenario, many people will just provide a 2 rating instead of really considering an honest answer. Rating scales that provide and odd number of options should be avoided and rating scales that offer scales of 1 to 10 or even worst 1 to 100.
5. The questionnaire should be ‘php’ driven to allow the bridge between the conveyance of fact (characteristic of the Information Age) with the transference of emotion (characteristic of the Recommendation Age we now live in). In other words, this is a great opportunity for you to begin to ethically control your market place. One of the most powerful ways to persuade your optimum clients is to get them to a) self reflect on key criteria that they need to be aware of before making any purchasing decision and b) do something–in this case garner their feedback using a rubric.
